"You cannot help someone get up a hill without getting closer to the top yourself."
General H. Norman Schwarzkopf
Welcome to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS), VA Voluntary Service (VAVS) website. VAVS is the largest volunteer program in the Federal Government and our history reaches back to 1946. VAVS Volunteers have contributed over 676 million hours of time and expertise to improve the lives of veterans, nationally.
Within the past 11 years, the local VAVS has expanded services to all medical facilities within the VASNHS. These include the Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital (MOFH) at Nellis Air Force Base, Arville House Day Treatment Center, the Readjustment Counseling Service (RCS)/Veterans' Outreach Center (Vet Center), the MASH unit for homeless veterans, two Community Base Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Henderson and Pahrump, Nevada, the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nevada, and nine Outpatient Clinics throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
